Clouds and Smartweed (Polygonum pensylvanicum)

This photograph was taken the same afternoon as the previous post. It was about 5:30 in the evening, the sun was going in and out from those huge clouds, and occasionally it lit everything with amazing intensity.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm, ISO 200, shutter speed 1/800s and aperture f/9. Curves adjustments to decrease contrast/saturation; color balancing for tone. No burning/dodging on this image -- it was all about the clouds and the sun.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Simply beautiful! I really like the punch of color the smartweed adds to image.

This shot, and the last shot, are terrific. You make that 24-70L shine on that 5D.

Lovely, Kathleen. I love that with the big version it starts off looking sunny and then as you scroll down the image almost seems to become stormy. Such amazing color... I never tire of your work!

Such a beautiful contrast of bright vibrant color. Great shot. I like how the children become dwarfed by wide angle lens.

Like one of Monet's "fields with fugures" works........but Claude never pulled off a sky like that.......close maybe......

This is why God gave us digital image keep it up.

Thanks, this one is truly exceptional.

Only one word to describe this: beautiful... The children look like little elves among the flowers. :)

beautiful colours and great balance, did you not use any filters??? I find it hard to expose for skys. Having to do several exposures (either in cam, or from RAW), or use ND grads... just wondering what you do?

Oh My! The colors and sky are just fantastic!
