Lounging in a Field of Smartweed (Polygonum pensylvanicum)

I noticed this field of smartweed (interesting common name!) from a distance a few days ago and decided to have a closer look. I was delighted to find the flowers as densely packed as they seemed from far away. Amazing to have such a bright pink color as autumn approaches.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm, ISO 200, shutter speed 1/1600s and aperture f/2.8. Curves adjustments for contrast/saturation; color balancing for tone.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

I'm v new to photography and what wonderful photos and inspiration I've gained from this site! I love the colour of the boots echoed by the smartweed. Did you use a reflector or flash gun to light the face or was it all natural? Thank you for your inspiration (and when's your UK exhibition happening:-).

This reminds me of the famous Andrew Wyeth painting. Did you have it in mind when you shot this? --- I like it.
